Unique intern positions available with Solidarity 2020 and Beyond. Please share widely!
Do you want an internship with a lot of responsibility and room for creativity, as well as gaining invaluable experience and connections with grassroots activists, scholars, and journalists from around the world who are focused on advocacy, peacebuilding, and nonviolent action? If so, consider applying to our Solidarity 2020 and Beyond team. Positions will start at the end of 2021 or early 2020 and run for 5-6 months.
Organizational Background: Solidarity 2020 and Beyond is a community of practice and support network that serves the needs–and is guided by–the Global Grassroots Activist Network (GGAN), currently made up of 150+ grassroots nonviolent action leaders from around the world. These activists are supported by a small staff (including interns) and an Organizing Committee of 28 scholar activists, thought-leaders, and journalists acting in solidarity with these locally-led campaigners and movement-builders on their grassroots projects and initiatives.
Internship Focus Areas: We are currently looking for a new team of interns to work on managing our website and social media campaigns, supporting funding proposals and crowdfunding campaigns, editing and producing videos, assisting with participatory research projects, and managing our webinar series co-sponsored by Waging Nonviolence and Nonviolence International.
Internship Requirements: Successful candidates will have skills in one or more of the areas outlined above; a passion for social justice, peacebuilding, and nonviolent action; and be currently enrolled in a relevant BA, MA, or doctoral program. They will need to be able to work remotely and have access to consistent internet for Zoom and website upgrade capacity. In addition, an English language competency is required, with additional languages a plus.
Compensation: These positions are currently volunteer, but could turn into paid and longer-term positions as our initiative grows. Depending on the success of our fundraising efforts, we may also be able to pay a small stipend. We can also help you earn academic credits in collaboration with your school.
Application Instructions: Send a Cover Letter and a CV/Resume (no longer than 3 pages total) to Steve Chase, Assistant Director, firstname.lastname@example.org. Candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis and may be contacted for interviews and/or selected before the final application deadline of May 15, 2022.
